What To Wear For Newborn Photography Session | Ideas For Parents And Siblings - Barrington

If you are having troubles deciding on what to wear for your newborn session, you will find some tips here!

First of all, I would suggest bringing your clothes that you will use for the session on the hanger since you will be travelling and everything will get wrinkled from sitting in the car. I do have an iron but also it’s good to have a change of clothes in case of the accident !!

Let’s talk about colors..

The best colors to wear for your newborn session are whites, creams, black, neutrals or pastels

Neutrals work great to keep the attention on the baby and away from your clothing.
White color is timeless and complements the newness and innocence of the newborn baby.
Pastels also have that “new baby” look and are great if you want to coordinate your outfits with the baby’s nursery.
Black is great for mommies who are worried about hiding their post-maternity belly, but I shoot my family poses at angles that will not show anything so you shouldn’t worry about anything.

Please avoid clothes with printing on them such as logos or writing, for example (big sister, big brother and such) since it will keep attention away from your new baby. Make sure you dress for the studio that will be in the high 70’s for the purpose of keeping your baby warm!

If you are planning on doing parents and nude baby shot a change of clothes is a MUST! There is 50% chance we will have an accident, you can always choose to do wrapped parent and family pose (95% of my clients choose this one).

Please do not worry about the shoes. The only time I would photograph your feet is when you would be on my bed and in this case I want to keep everyone barefoot for more natural look 😀

For the siblings I would recommend neutral colors as well. For boys polo shirts, short or long sleeve shirts and neutral colored pants (such as khakis or jeans). For girls I recommend a simple dress or shirt and skirt combination. Like I mentioned before please do not worry about the shoes.
